The Jordan Media Institute (JMI), in Jordan, is a well-known media education institute with regional outreach and broad experience of working with MIL.

The Jordan Media Institute (JMI) was established by Princess Rym Ali in 2006 as a non-profit organization specializing in journalism education and training. In 2010, JMI became the first educational institute in Jordan and the region to offer a Master’s degree in Journalism and New Media, thereby setting a precedent in incorporating digital media and practical training in journalism education.

In 2014, JMI launched its media credibility monitor and fact check website www.Akeed.jo which aims to fight fake news and misinformation and help improve the performance of media in Jordan and support the right of citizens to accurate information.

JMI has, since 2016, been actively introducing MIL into Jordan in the first such effort on a national scale. The team developed the first MIL school syllabus, university textbook and training material in Arabic. We remain committed to a strategic vision on MIL and have been charged by Jordan’s government to be the implementing organization of a national three-year project that includes introducing MIL into schools, universities and youth centers.
